Notice is hereby given, that a jury of Sewers, chosen from the county of Middlesex, duly sworn at a Court of Sewers for the Tower Hamlets, (excluding St. Katharine’s and Blackwall Marsh,) holden on the 15th day of July 1831, at the office of Sewers, Great Alie- street, to inquire, for our Sovereign Lord the King, of the defects of the walls, ditches, sewers, and other defences against the waters in the Spitalfields and Wapping Level, within the limits aforesaid, Did, at a Court of Sewers for the limits aforesaid, holden on the 26th day'of August in the present year, deliver into Court their presentment, upon oath, and thereby did then and there present the several owners and occupiers of lands, tenements, hereditaments and premises in the several parishes of St. John at Hackney, St. Matthew, Bethnal Green, Christ Church, St. Mary, Whitechapel, the hamlets of Mile End Old Town and Mile End New Town; the parishes of St. George, St. John of Wapping, St. Paul Shadwell, the hamlet of Ratcliff, the parishes of St. Ann, St. Leonard, Bromley, and All Saints, Poplar, in the Spitalfields and Wapping Level, as receiving benefit, or avoiding damage, by the support, maintenance, reparation, reformation and amendment of the sewers of the said level within the limits of the said Tower Hamlets; and notice is hereby further given, that the Commissioners, at an adjourned Court of Sewers, to be holden for the limits aforesaid, on Friday the 23d day of September now next ensuing, at one o’clock in the afternoon precisely, at the Office of Sewers aforesaid, will make a rate for defraying the charges and expenses of the support, maintenance, reparation, reformation and amendment of the sewers of the said level, the works done and to be done in, upon, and about the same, and the incidental expenses of the commission, charging all persons who are presented by the said jury, as receiving benefit or avoiding damage by the support, maintenance, reparation, reformation and amendment of the sewers of the said level* and whose names are respectively mentioned and contained in certain schedules to the said presentment an¬ nexed, at which time and place any person or persons who may be so advised may appear and traverse the said presentment, or any part thereof.
