![ACETTJM Aeomaticum. P. Aromatic /S^j/ViV of Vinegar. Strong acetic acid Oj, camplior gij, oil of lavender gr. ix, oil of cloves jss, oil of cinnamon gr. xx. [Acetum Arc- maticnm G. is made with aromatic tinctures, ossent. oils, acetic acid, and water. See Acidum aceticnm aroma- ticum, E.] Acetum Cantharidis. B. ISpispasticiim. Mix f sxiij of acetic acid with f 313 of glacial acetic acid, and digest in this mixture cantharides in powder gij for two hours, at a temperature of 200° F., then transfer the ingredients, after they have cooled, to a percolator, and when the liquid ceases to pass, pour f gv of acetic acid over the residuum. When the percolation is complete, press contents of per- colator, filter, mix the liquids, add acetic acid to make 1 pint. [To promote prompt vesication. See also Tiuctura Cantliar. Acetica.] Acetum Capsici. Capsicum 3], vinegar f 5xxiv. See Tinc- tura Capsici Acetica. Used in gargles. Acetum Colchici. L. Dried colchicum 5iiiss, diluted acetic acid Oj. Macerate in a closed vessel for 3 days, express the liquor, and let it settle ; add to the strained liquor f giss of proof spirit. E. Fresh colchicum tr., distilled vinegar f Sxvj, proof spirit f 53. As the last. D. Colchicum Lulhs dried and bruised gj, commercial acetic acid f giv, distilled water f Jxij. Dose of L. and E. from f 5ss to 5iss. D. is nearly three times as strong. Acetum Destillatum. L. and E. From 8 pints of vinegar (from a glass retort into a glass receiver) distil 7 pints. E. directs French vinegar in preference. [Chiedy nsed as a pharmaceutical agent. It has been given in Scarlatina, in doses of f 5j.] P. by distilling vinegar made from wine. Acetum Digitalis. G. Dried Foxglove gj, vinegar gix, rect. sp. (-830 to -SS I) 3.). Macerate for 8 days, press, filter. Dose, to iiixxx. Acetum Lavanuul.t:. P. Digest tr. of dried lavender llowcrs with gxij of vinegar lor 10 days.
