    diseases of the heart, and aneurism, as I before observed, is very large, as will be seen from the following- table :— In 1868, the deaths were, from Rheumatism Pericarditis Heart diseases Aneurism 50.— 33 males. 22.— 15 „ 372.-244 62.— 57 17 females. r- i 128 5 Total 349 157 Rheumatism has been included in the table, from death, when it does prove fatal, being generally from disease of the heart. The following table has been compiled from the Melbourne Hospital Reports, from ] 857 to 1869, inclusive. It is not of any value beyond showing the number of admissions and number of deaths from rheumatism. In 1861, in less than twelve months, I noted 11 cases of pericarditis in the wards, but there is not one case returned in that year.
