Though able to do little or nothing herfelf, (he may give Direc¬ tions to a Child or a Nurfe concerning the mod: material Affairs: She may be up, and able to do many Things for her Children, long before the cuftomary Time of difcharg- ing Women from the Lying-in Hofpitals. No one need be reminded of the Importance of a Mother's Refidence in a poor Man’s Family, with regard to the Safety, Cleanli- nefs, Behaviour, and Happinefs of the Chil¬ dren. If (he be removed, the Hu (band muff forego the Profits of his conftant Labor to fupply her Place at Plome ; or, if extreme Penury makes that impracticable, he muff be at the Charge of hiring fome Perfon to look after his delerted Children ; or, his Circumftances not allowing him to do even that, the helplefs Infants muff be left for the inoft Part entirely to themfelves.
