    Pus. The presence of Pus is usually detected in the thick and stringy deposit found onstanding. Toa portion of this add an equal portion of Caustic Potash. Pus is detected by a resultant jelly-like and slimy mass. Blood. To a small portion of the urine to be tested is added a few drops of Tinc. of Guaiacum which gives a turbid mixture on shaking. About an equal quantity of ozonic ether is then carefully added, and aslightshake given. Ifa blue ring is found at the juncture of the ether and urine, blood is present. LAXATIVES. The choice of a laxative should be a matter of care. Avoid harsh laxatives which unduly purge, give pain, and irritate the mucous linings of the intestines. Select a mild, but thoroughly efficient laxative, such as California Syrup of Figs, which is ideal, being a natural product, very pleasant to take, and free from griping tendencies.
