Nafield,” though the printing was actually Paris. Nor is it No. 173 in Scott, ‘* Bibliography of Works Relating to Mary, Queen of Scots,” as the collation does not agree. This edition is unrecorded, & it seems probable that bearing no imprint, it is the First Edition. Mason, M.A., Precentor of York, and Rector of Aston. London, T. Cadell & W. Davies, 1811 a £1 15s 8vo. 4 vols. Calf gilt, m.e. Portraits of Mason, the Earl of Holdernesse, & William Burgh. Apart from Mason’s Odes, Poems, and Dramas, many of which were retouched by Gray, this edition contains his “English Garden,’? with prose com- mentary ; his ‘“‘ Religio Clerici”?; his Translation of Du Fresnoy’s “ Art of Painting,” with the interest- ing prose historical notes ; and the “ Essays on Church Music.” His sermons are included. A superb copy of the works of the friend, corre- spondent, & literary executor of Gray. It is in an unusual binding for the period, of blue calf, with a broad gilt outer border, and a stamped panel sur- rounding an inner panel composed of alternating vetical and horizontal lines.
