She does not know how to take care of herself. The contemptuous tone in which she spoke of Miss Beau- champ (awake) was striking, and her whole manner was very different from what it formerly had been when hypno- tized. The weary, resigned, attitude was gone; she was bold, self-assertive, unwilling to accept suggestions, and anything but passive. A few days after this, when hyp- notized, all became changed again; the former hypnotic manner returned. Who are you? I asked. I am Miss Beauchamp.
