The common Medicines did him no fe vice. At length he confefs’d, that, before his firft Co: vulfion he had a venereal Ulcer in the Gians Tem which, though it foon difappear’d, frequently returne again. For this Reafon, it was unanimoufly agreed i anoint him, at long Intervals. Four Frictions railed Dabblers in Claps not to be too hafty in the Ufe of Aftringents. (r) Tis ftrange that aftringent Injeftions lliould ftill be continued in Clai after fo many Perfons have been ruin’d thereby; and that too, whilft other Jtir of the fame Form are vulgarly known to be no lefs eftcdual and fafe, than the are perninicious and detrimental.
