An increase in the total number of cases recorded occurred, but this is due to the increased care taken in recording cases amongst both Europeans and Natives. The general case mortality remained much the same as in the previous year, but the European rate showed improvement as only 4 deaths were recorded as against 7 in the preceding year. Three of these were due to hyperpyrexial type, and it is just possible that they cannot all be attributed to Malaria as even text hooks show some doubt as to the origin of this type which is certainly not always malarious. There were 19 invalidings as against 39 in the preceding year and it will be seen that the Accra charts show a very marked improvement in the malarial rate notwithstanding that many minor cases are now recorded which some years ago would not have been entered in our Register. It may be assumed that the conditions for the Coast was one of marked improvement as far as Europeans were concerned. In Accra a reduction in the numbers of Anopheles was noticeable. Year. Cases.
