![FACTORIES ACT, 1937 During the year 70 visits were paid to Factories, Workshops and Workplaces, 4 notices were served. 14 notices had been complied with at the end of the year. The following are details of the items contained in the notices complied with. Absence of intervening ventilated spaces . . i Defective wall plaster . . . . . . . . i Dirty walls and ceilings . . . . . . . . 2 Defective connections between Hush pipe and pedestal to w.c. . . . . . . . . i Absence of suitable and sufficient sanitary conveniences . . . . . . . . . . 2 DISINFECTION AND INFECTIOUS DISEASE The number of visits paid during the year was 215. RODENT CONTROL Dwellinghouses and Business Premises Number of complaints received during the year . . . . 269 Number of visits of inspection, baiting and extermination during the year . . . . . . . . . . . . 1,822 Sewers .Annual test baiting of the sewers was carried out. 83 manholes were baited, being a{)proximately 10 ])er cent, of those in the area, i.e., 838. It was fouiKl that a small section of the system had become infested with rats and subsequent maintenance treatment was carried out. The portion which was found to be infested was coincident with a surface infestation occurring in the vicinity.
