![(b) Bakehouses. 1] In J able 20 are tabulated statistics relating to the premises. 1 he number on the Register remains the*sai as at the close of the previous year, six having been disco tinued and six new ones registered. About 480 visits have been paid in connection wi them, but only two notices for defects were required, bo of which were complied with. The Workshops Inspect takes charge of this work. SLAUGHTER HOUSES. At the end of the year 1918 there were on the Regist 39 Private Slaughter Houses, which were annually license Iheie is no public Abbatoir or Registered Slaughter Hon in the Borough. Owing to the prohibition of the slaughter of catt] except on the three selected slaughter houses, it was co siclered inadv isable to grant a license to those where catt and sheep only were slaughtered, and 25 were not re-license One new license was granted, and with the exception of th; above three the remainder were for the slaughter of pij only. Owing to the reduction in the number of the slaughti houses, the visits to these premises shows also a grei reduction. The bad condition in which some consignments offorei^ meat arrived in the town necessitated the examination every carcase, which in the case of frozen meat was a vei laborious, wet and cold duty, and at times an addition, inspector had to be detailed for the work.
