![Subjects. Decisions. 7. Comparing the foregoing figures with those actually provided under Vote 10 in 1904-05, we ae have :— 1905-06. £ Reduced Part I. services’ - - 25,500 Reduced Part II. services - 12,830 A.H.C. programme services, not included in above - - - 6,000 To cover excesses on 1904-05 general Part I. services - - 12,000 £56,330 As against-— 1904-05. Part I. services, excluding continua- £ tion services, or those carried out under Admiralty money—General item for improvements’ - - 20,000 General item for laundry , machinery - - - 3,600 General item for laboratories - 5,000 Part II. services, excluding minor alterations - - - - 6,000 £34,600 Again, it must be realised that although no special preparation was made at Headquarters for embark- ing on or supervising, this expenditure on Hospital services in 1904-05 until the month of September, no large lapses are anticipated. It is, therefore, reasonable to suppose that a considerably larger sum can be spent in 1905-C6, if the Treasury will give it, than in 1904-05. 8. Taking all things into consideration, including Amount pro- the important fact that it will be possible in 1905-06, posed for as it was not in 1904-05, to determine beforehand General the relative urgency of the services involved, with a Part J. view to the necessary inspections and preliminary Jtem, investigations being carried out in good time by 1905-06, whomsoever is entrusted with the work, the Com- £50,000. mittee agreed that a General Part I. item, entitled as proposed, and amounting to 50,000/., should be asked for. It should be explained in putting this to the Treasury, firstly, the small proportion that the sum asked for bears to the local demands; and, secondly, that no Part II. allotments will remain in G.O.C.’s . hands for Hospital services. The Committee consider that there will be a reasonable probability of being able to spend this amount, and recommend that every endeavour may be made to obtain it without reduction. 9. Under the third head of services put forward by G.O.C.’s [II. (i1i)] we have to deal with Part III. works. ‘These are not in all cases detailed, and the Committee do not propose to centralise these services at Headquarters. They consider, therefore, that G.O.C.’s should have contre] of this money, subject to certain general instructions which they would propose to issue, such as (a) to govern the colour of paint in wards, &c., (6) to prevent unauthorised inno- vations in Hospital construction or administration. The amount entered in G!O.C.’s lists for Home “educed stands at 2,090/., and for Colonial Stations 4002., a Zotal, gross total of 2,490/., and of this sum the Committee Part LIT, propose that 150/. only should remain for Colonial £150. Stations, and nil for Home Stations. 10. They, however, realise the fact that some money will be required locally for Hospital incidentals and repairs, and suggest that 5,000/. should be asked for under this head exclusively for Hospital use, and that this sum should be proportionately distributed among the various commands,](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b32181929_0050.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
