Major Hemming reports that he has— In Bolding’s Apparatus. Simplified the urine bottle washer, and brought the jet for same up into a second heel-shaped recess at the side of the pan. Substituted screw-down valves for lazy cocks; supply pipes to jets enlarged to 14 inches, Re-introduced the rim flush with separate 2-gallon flushing cistern (syphon). Entirely altered the form of annular chamber and of sluice holes in upper portion of same, with a view to making the jets more powerful, the holes less likely to become choked, avoiding all angles and recesses, and making the chamber accessible for cleaning. In Doulton’s Apparatus. Added a slop top, and substituted screw-down valves as above. , . The paper has gone on to M.G.O. (C.) for issue of tenders. 12/1/05. Gen. No. 2/1236.
