Description

A compilation of different neurological clinical cases with explanatory intertitles (edge codes date them to 1955-6, 1952-3). Fasciculation; an adult man with motorneurone disease. His torso rear and front followed by eye and facial movements, mid shots and then close-ups. Oculogyric spasms. An adult woman aged 33 with post-encephalitic parkinsonism. Chorea. Male with Huntington's chorea (Huntington disease); rapid eye movements and twitches in his feet. An older woman aged 56 with various hand and head movements (also with Huntington disease). Athetosis. Chorea athetosis. Male aged 34. Woman aged 32. Hemiballismus. Prone older man with involuntary movement. Static tremor of cerebellar disease. The following sections including Focal epilespy, have a different style of intertitle so might not be taken from the same hospital, or country (USA or Canada).

1 of 121 clinical cine films (1950s-80s) donated to the Wellcome Library by the former University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff University in 2013. The majority of the films were created by the college as part of their teaching activities with most dating from between 1950-80. There are a few earlier examples of films from elsewhere from the 1930s which were in distribution and were collected by the university.
