About this work

Description

A Drosophila oocyte showing the localisation of actin (red) and GFP-Staufen (green). The RNA-binding protein Staufen is required for the microtubule-dependent localisation of mRNA from genes such as bicoid and oskar, which determine polarity in the oocyte and developing embryo, and the action-dependent localisation of mRNA from genes such as prospero in neuroblasts.
