Frank Rowntree and the presenter discuss 'messing' about in boats. Rowntree expresses concern with regards to the safety issues, particularly with no instruction. Flotation devices and safety aids are important. Learning to swim is encouraged.

Francis St. D. Rowntree 1928-1996 was awarded the OBE in 1986. In 1987 he was appointed Vice President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and also Vice President of the Institute of Health.
For a period in the 1970s, Frank Rowntree was the Health Education Officer for Sheffield. He was invited into the BBC Radio Sheffield studios for a regular short weekly health spot.
