Dr. Egbert John Garden has been well known to me since the commencement of his medical studies. He has all along been one of the most exemplary and distinguished students in the School. In Anatomy he was one of the highest prizemen and one of the prosectors for the class. He has filled the position of House-Surgeon to the Eoyal Infirmary, and has now graduated in Medicine and Surgery with “ Highest Honours.” To the above I have much pleasure in adding an expression of my high personal esteem for Dr. Garden. It gives me great pleasure to certify that Dr. Garden was a very distinguished Student of Medicine at this University during the whole of the period of his under-graduate study,—- that he greatly distinguished himself in the Class of Surgery,—- that he was my Class Assistant for one Session, and Surgeons* Assistant at the Hospital, and performed the duties of both offices in a very creditable manner,—that I had frequent oppor¬ tunities of forming a just appreciation of Dr. Garden, and that I consider him as well qualified as any one of the same standing, to practise his profession.
