The heicfhts and weight.s were .satisfactory for a mannfactui'ing town, the relationship l)etween heipfht and weight being good, except for children entering- Cliildren are weighed with clothes on, and as during the last year most of the enti-ants were examined daring the summer months when less clothes were worn, I think it partly accounts foi- their lower weight than usual. I cannot say that nutrition or clothing have suffered much owing to the war, but in the few cases attention has been given to the matter. There is a great improvement in the cleanliness question as regards bodies and heads. In Table IV. Defective Teeth are chiefly recorded as due to crowded teeth or sepsis rather than numbers carious, for 4 or 5 slightly cai'ious teelh in young children can scarcely be called a defect but a natuial ])rocess. Out of 172 Defective Vision cases examined by Dr. Hari-y, 19 had not got glasses at the year end, but all the others had obtained glasses, or had necessary operations performed.
