Umbilicus Marinus, Tragacanth, White Starch, of each three drams. Chriftaly D entails y Etalis, Olibanum, Nitery White Marble, of each two drams. Gerftt Serpent art a an ounce. Ceruft fix ounces. flogs greafe not faltedy a pound and an half. Goats-fuet prepared, an ounce and an half. Hens fat two ounces and an half, ponder the things as you ought to do both together, and by themfelves, melt the fats being clenfed inaftone veffell, add fteep in them two Citrons of a mean tignefl cut in bitsyin a warm bath.lifter a. whol weefftrain it}andput in the pon¬ ders by degrees, amongfl which let the Camphir and Borax be the laft,ftir them and bring them into the form of an Qyntment Culpeper.'] It takes away pimples, redneis, freckles, and other deformi¬ ties of the Face, fcabs in any part of the body ; it takes away the rednefs of the Eyes, and makes a rough skin fmooth. Oafs, Beans, Berries of Mirths, IT or ft ail, G alls, Grape (Jones, Unripe Services and Medlars dried, Leaves of Sloe-tree, Hoots of Biftort, Tormentil, of each an ounce and an half. Brnife them grofly, and boyl them in ten pound of Plantane water til half be con- fumed, then take New yellow Wax eight ounces and an half. Oyl of Mir ties ftmple two pound and an half. Melt them and wajh them nine times in the aforefaid DecolUon, Being wajhed and melted put in theft fttUowing ponders Middle barf of (si corns, Cheftmts, ’ Oaf. Galls, Juyce of Mypociftis, ^stjhes of the bone of an Ox Leg, Mirtle berries, Vnripe Grape ftones, Vnripe Services, of each half an ounce. Troches of timber two ounces. With Oyl of Maftich fo much as is ftif- ftcient, Makp it into an Oynment according to art. Culpeper.] It feems in my Eyes a gallant binding Oyntment, compo- fed neatly by a judicious brain. The belly and Reins being anointed with it, it ftaies Abortion or Mifcarriage in Women though already begun $ it {Lengthens weak backs exceedingly, and flops the immoderate flowing of the Terms and Hemorrhoids,and fal¬ ling out of the Fundament and womb : Finally, for every occafion that requires binding, I would if I were Eloquent, commend it in the Superlative degree. Vertues newly added. This Oyntment was invented for the ufe of a Countefs to the Intents aforefaid,and thence it had its name. Vnguentum Maniatnm. Page 164. Latin. Colledg.] Take of frejh Bay haves three pound. Garden I{ue two pound and an half. Marjoram two pound. Mints a pound. Sage, ■ Wormwood, Coftmary, Baft l, of each half a pound. Salletoyl twenty pound. Tellow wax four pound. Mall ego wine two pound. Of all of them being bruifed, boyled, and preffed out as they ought, makp an oynt¬ ment according to art. Culpeper.] It is a great ftrengthe- ner of the head, it being anointed with it; as alfo of all the parts of the body,efpecially the Nerves, mui- clesj and arteries. 'Vertues newly added. It is good for all cold difeafes of the body and parts thereof, for cold diftempers of the Head,to cure pains of the Chert, Stomach, Liver,Spleen, arifing from cold humors. It helps Convullions, Parties, tremblings of the hands, the Sciatica or Hip-gout, it foftens all hard Tumors, efpecially thofe of the Spleen. It is a tried I medicament for fplenatick and hy¬ dropic al perfonr. It takes away black and blew fpots upon the s-kin artling from blows. It difeufles co/ a, fwellings of the Nerves and Joynts, and_a!fwages their pains. It muft be anointed upon, and chafed into the reipedive parts, in the Sun or before the fire. Vnguentum Maftichinum.
