![op Culpeper.'] Authors hold it profi¬ table for women in labor, that it pro¬ vokes the terms,and brings away the after-birth. Compound qua vita. Colledg-3 Is made of fmal Twines, in fix gallons of which,infufe Seeds of ytnnis half a pound. fennel. Caraway> of each two ounces. Cloves, Cinnamon, Ginger, of each one ounce, jtnd then draw the Jlrong fpirit from it. Culpeper.] This is excellent good in my opinion for fuch as are trou¬ bled with wind. Vertues newly added. This is of the fame faculties with the former. A fpoonful may be ta¬ ken alone, or mingled with common Mint water. ZJfquebath. Colledg-3 Take of Jlrong sfqua vi¬ ta twenty four pints. In which, for four daies infufe a'pound of Li quarts. Paifons of the Sun half a pound. Cloves half an ounce. Mace, Ginger, of each two drams. Strain it and Jeep it for your ufe. Culpeper.] It Ilrengthens the fto* mach, and helps indigeftion coming offlegm and cold. Vertues newly added. It is good for Difeafes of the cheft mingled with Hyfop and Colts¬ foot waters. 1$? I?# TINCTURES. TinBura Croci. Pag. 41. Lat. Or, Tin&ure otSaffron. T-Akp Saffron two dr arris. Treacle IVater eight onn- Col. ces. Digef them fix daies, then Jlrain it. Culpeper.] See the Vertues of Treacle Water, and then know that this Ilrengthens the heart fom thing more, and keeps melancholy vapors thence, by drinking a fpoonful of i t every morning. TinBura Caftorii. Pag. 41. Lat. Or, Tin&ure of caftorium. \ Colledg.] Tale of Cajlorium in pouder half an ounce. Spirit of cajlorium half a pound. Digejlthem ten daies cold. Strain it, and keep the Liquor for TinBure. Culpeper.] ’Tis fomthing more prevalent than the Spirit. Vertues newly added. It is of the fame ufe with Spirit of caftorium aforefaid, but more efFc- &uah TinBura Fragrorum. Pag.4r.L. Or, Tin&ure of Strawberries. Colledg.] Take of ripe Wood-f raw- berries two pound : Put them in a Phial, and put fo much fmal fpirit of wine to them that it may overtop them the thiepnefi of four fingers; fop the vcffel cloft, and fet it in the fun two daies, then firain it andprefs it but gently ; powr this fpirit to as many JreJh Strawberries, repeat this fix times , at laft keep the clcer Li¬ quor fbr your ufe. Vertues newly added. This pallaies the boyling heat of the blood, reprefles vapors amend¬ ing into the brain, Ilrengthens the Liver, and helps thofe that Ileep un- quietly. A fpoonful or two may be given by itfelf, or an ounce or two m altering Juleps. TinBura Scordii. Pag. 41. Lat. Or, Tin&ure of Scordium. Colledg.3 Tafe of the leaves of Scor¬ dium gathered in a dry time half a pound. Digefi^ them in fix pound of final fpirit of wine, in a vcffel well (topped for three dates ; prefs them out gently, and repeat the infufion three times, and keep the clarified liquor for ufe. So is made TinBure of SuM endine, fieft-harrotv, Pps-fo/is. Culpeper.] See the Herbs for the Vertues, and then take notice that thefe are better for cold ftomachs, old bodies. Vertues newly added. It is good in malignant andpefti-r lential and veneixious difeafes. TinBura Theriacalis, vulgo, Pfqud TheriacalisLugd. per infuf. P.41. L. Or, Tin&ure of Treacle. Colledg.] Take of Canary wine often times diflilled. Vinegar in which half an ounce of pue feeds have been boy led, two- pound. Choice Treacle, The beft Methridate, of each half a. pound. Mix them, and fet them in the fun, or heat of a bath, digeft them, and keep the water for ufe. Vertues newly added. This partakes the Vertues of Trea¬ cle, Mithridate, and Treacle Water. It is good in all venemous, peftileii- tial, Venereal Difeafes, being feafo- nably adrniniftred. TinBura Cinnamomi, vulgo, ^Aqua Clareta cinr.am. P.4’. L. Or,Tin- &ure of Cinnamon. Colledg.] Tafie of bruifed cinnamon two ounces. PeBifiedfpirit of wine two pound. Infufe them four daies in a large glafs flopped with cor\ and bladder, jjhake it twice a day ; then diffolve half a pound of Sugar candy by it felf in two pound of pofe water. Mix both 'Liquors, -into which hang a Nodule containing timber greece half a fcruple. Musp four grains. 1 Culpeper.] This was before a- mongft the Waters, only there is four ounces of cinnamon appointed^ and here but two. Vertues newly added. This hath the Vertues of Cinna¬ mon water aforefaid. It Ilrengthens the brain,ftomach, Liver,and womb, and is good for fuch as incline to the cachexia, droplie, feurvy, bein^ al- laied with fennel and feurvigrafs wa¬ ter.
