    202 crenelled; they were traversed by a midrib, which reached to their apex, and gave off obliquely a number of distant forked veins. This differs from P. jpennceformis, another Coal- measure plant, in almost nothing except the cre¬ nel] ing of the lobes of the leaves, as far as we have any means of judging; but as the letter-press of Adolphe Brongniart’s work, containing the descrip¬ tion of this has not yet appeared, we are ignorant of the motives he has had for separating them.
