![[ <?9 ] Violence, which thole Gentlemen affirm always attend the having them by Infection* And tho’ Inoculation with all it's Infallibility, may affed the Weak and Infirm, more than the Strong and Sound, yet if it be in it’s fell a more gentle and fiafe Method than what comes the Natural Way, it muft by Parity of Rea- fon affed the fame Subjed in a lejs Degree, and therefore ought rather to be chofen: For if this Rule be true, fure a weak Conjlitution and ill Habit of Body3 can better undergo this Di- feale in a gentle Degree, than with Violence; and is better able to fupport moderate Symptoms and a few, than fevere Ones and great Numbers. The Refult of the Argument in Inert muft be this; If the Method of Inoculation be gentler and fafer, zveak Perfons ought of all Others to be Inoculated, as lefs able to bear the more hazardous Effeds of In fed ion. If it is not Infer and eafter than the Na¬ tural Way, the whole Scheme falls to the Ground ; for then it is plain it is a greater Ha¬ zard even to the Strong to undergo this Me¬ thod, and the Weak are altogether incapable of it.
