![TOO TARDY APPEARANCE OF THE MENSES. The absence of this discharge alone, so long as the i general health does not suffer, is not sufficient reason \ for the administration of medicine. It is some- : times delayed in our latitude until the eighteenth i year, without any evil consequences resulting. It ] generally, however, occurs at the age of fourteen | or fifteen years. Carefully avoid taking all nos- < trums, herb teas, essential oils, or other forcing ; medicines, for the purpose of bringing it on. But ; when all the visible signs of womanhood have ap- j peared, with the mental and moral changes that usually take place at the period of puberty, and \ the menses do not yet show themselves, especially i if periodical pains in the hips, loins and back oc- ; cur, attended with a sensation of weight and ful- j ness in the lower part of the abdomen, with bearing \ down, the aid of medicine may with propriety be ; called in to relieve the sufferer.
