![o Typhoid Fever —In all cases when reports of this disease are forwarded to me, I make a personal inspection of the premises, with a view to discovering, and having remedied, any sanitary defects which may exist. Unfortunately, it is frequently found to be very difficult to find any cause for the outbreak, and more especially is this the case where the disease has arisen in a sporadic manner, as has always been the case in your district. Tabulated below is a list of the cases with the result of my inspection. ] ULY. ro, Edmondson Street. Cases. 1 No defects apparent. Sept. The Laurels. 1 Imported. 75, Quebec Street. l Filthy open privy midden. Oct. 51. Kennedy Street 1 No defects. 9, Bailey Street. 1 No defects. I must congratulate the Council on having so few cases of this disease, which is essentially due to insanitary conditions, and the presence of which in a district is always a reflection upon those who should safeguard the Public Health I can only trust that the day is not far distant when I shall be able to say that there have been no eases. Diphtheria—Three cases reported, two of these being in the same family. The examination of the premises, in both instances, revealed defects of sanitation which would be quite sufficient to give rise to the disease.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30200684_0007.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
