![Illustrated by crude marginal water-colour drawings of alchemical apparatus, etc. The receipts are numbered from [52] to 94, both of which entries are incomplete; the numeration of the receipts appears to be irregular. (59598) 29. — Anonymous work containing 57 leaves of remarkable coloured pen- drawings symbolizing the processes of making the Stone, and of alchemical apparatus, etc. With text in Latin. 60 if.+ 4 bl. 11. folio. 27^ x 21 cm. [Middle 17th cent.] Modem boards. Ff. 44-49 contain illustrations of apparatus, and fol. 60 two emblazoned coats of arms, of which the lower one may be that of Charles Bulteau [1627-1710], a French political writer and book-collector. On fol. 12 is a poem of 17 lines in Italian, beginning ‘Ogn’un s’agiuti come puo è sa / attender la natura con due ali ’ : and ending ‘ Salua le spoglie e nulla ne gettare / se liquor diuerso uuoi cauere’. The work begins ‘Tesaurum mundi, hic est//Ecce surgens Philosophus ger- manieque doctrine filius . . .’: various passages in the text appear to be based on Arabic sources. A pencil entry on a fly-leaf is ‘ Sloare [? Sloane] Coll. 2056’, but it is not the MS. under that number in Ayscough’s Catalogue, p. 567. Purchased 1925. (43832) 30. — Collection of alchemical and chemical receipts in Italian and Latin. 4 bl. 11. + 368 pp. + 5 11. + 13 bl. 11. + 20 11. (last bl.) i6mo. 13 x 10 cm. [Middle 17th cent.] Original vellum binding. The index at the end seems to be by a later hand. This MS. is apparently a transcript of an older MS., as there is another foliation of 1-114, which ends on p. 331. Purchased 1929. (57484 (9)) 31. ALDOBRANDINO da Siena [ -1287]. Le régime du corps.
