![r ■■ ] French Surgeons again ft my Opinion^ altho1 grounded upon internal Symptoms of the Pox, thinking by the Violence of his Pro¬ ceedings to make me pafs for an ignorant Fellow and Calumniatorbut what is more particular, fome of the aforefaid Gentlemen, after they had approved of the Relation that I was obliged to draw up in my own Defence, and which was figned by their Hands, when the Time came for the fi¬ nal Decifion at Surgeons*Hatt^ they had the Bafenefs to retract, for what Reafons I cannot yet comprehend, for feveral dis¬ own’d their Opinions, by Declarations in Writing, and by word of Mouth, con¬ trary to their Signature, and injurious to Truth. £ Others appear’d in Perfon at the Hall to maintain their bad Caufe; f but what furpriz’d me the mod, was to hear the Name of a Surgeon, who keeps his Chariot, and who paftes to be one of the mod Skil¬ ful Surgeons in that Diftemper,* who after he had received his Fees retraced himfelf in Writing, in that Manner that little tends to his Honour.
