    fhould have treated them with the fame derifion as the monftrous legends of St. Anthony the monk, or thofe of the Abbe Paris, in the church of St. Medard, at Paris. But being a voucher, by the evi- dence of my own fenfes, in the truth of much of what is fo formally attefted, and having no reafon to doubt the credit of others, who receive them with an equal degree of conviction, I own J can no longer withhold my aflent to them.
