![26th. Bowels not opened hy the enema; complains of uneasinesu in consequence. ]§, Pulv. rhei 3i.; Sulph. potassa '^\. M. stat. sum. 27th. Was freely purged ; stools brown, bilious ; no pain and no fever to-day ; pulse natural; tongue clean ; not much appetite. Vesp. Fever returned at half-past 11 o'clock this morning ; skin still Lot but just becoming moist; pulse 108 ; tongue white. To take 6 grains of sulphate of bebeerine every hour to 6 doses after fever. 28th. Fever lasted till 2 o'clock this morning; skin now cool and moist; pulse small, 126; complains of headach, pain in epigastrium, and of a burning sensation in his feet and ankles ; much weakness also complained of; no stool last night; urine high coloured, turbid ; vomited a thin bilious fluid ; tongue furred, yellow ; anorexia ; thirst inconsiderable ; patient has taken the bebeerine. 29th. Free from fever this morning ; pulse 88 ; skin cool; tongue clean; no appetite; some nausea, and sickness; feels a little deaf; no tinnitus nor vertigo; is thirsty; had one stool, watery, sedimentary. No medicine. Vesp. Fever returned again to-day at 11 o'clock a.m. To take two ounces of solution of quinine every hour to 6 doses after fever. 30th. Fever ceased at 2 o'clock this morning, and patient is now taking quinine ; skin is cool; pulse 96 ; tongue cleaning. Mai/ 1st. Has had 36 grs. of quinine, which produced much cin- chonism; deafness nearly gone this morning; free of fever ; pulse 84; tongue white, not foul ; anorexia ; bowels not open ; complains of pain and uneasiness all over ; thirsty. 9) Pulv. rhei 5 i.; sulph. potassce 3 i- stat. sum. 2d. Freely purged ; pulse 72 ; tongue clean ; still complains of uneasiness and want of appetite. 9> Infus. gentiancB gij. tinct. gentian. 5ij.; M. ter in dies. Patient got no more fever; continued to improve up to the 8th May, when he was discharged cured. V.— Case of intermittent fever complicated with rose of leg, treated with bebeerine, cured by quinine. —Edward Brown, a Creole, aged 25, a carpenter; pale and anaemic, was admitted into the hospital on 31st March with a large indolent ulcer on left outer ankle, of two years' duration. 22d April. Health of patient is much improved, and sore on ankle is cicatrizing.
