![THE ADVANCEMENT OF MAN change of genetic combination. If this could be done, man would have his fate in his own hands. He could multiply the desirable combination until the entire population consisted of that type. Of course, he would then come squarely against the question as to what kind of individual should thus be allowed to multiply and inherit the earth. There is little doubt that, as Mr. Bertrand Russell* suggests, the ruling class, whatever its character, would be the one allowed to prevail. As they now attempt to suppress the opinions that do not agree with their own, so with this efficient weapon in hand they would radically wipe out types holding other ideals.
