It may be given to children from twenty grains to a dram, or even two drams in a day, a little at a time, mixed in their food; grown people may take it more freely. 1* , • * ^ « MAN N A . Isa gentle purge, which affeds only the ftomach and bowelsj it is in much efteem for children, and given from one or two drams to one ounce; grown people may take one ounce and a half or two ounces, without flirting them, for which reafon it is quickened with Glauber’s falts, which fee. MARSHMALLOW DRINK. / _ Take a quarter of a pound of marlhmallow roots wathed very clean, and boil them in three quarts of water until one is con- fumed, remove it from the fire, and, when cold, decant off the liquor; if you do not think the thicknefs difagreeable, it will be more efficacious if you prefs the roots; it may be fweetened with virgin honey. This may be drank at pleaiure, and is recom¬ mended in all cafes where a foft lubricating regimen is proper; it is much efleemed for the gravel and heat of urine. NERVOUS TINCTURE. Nervous complaints are too common in England to need a particular defcription, in all kinds of them this tin&ure is very fer¬ viceable ; it is likewife proper in lownefs of fpirits, huntings, and hyfterical cafes, giving flrength and chearfulnefs, and railing the depreffed fpirits. The dofe is from one to two tea-fpoonfuls, two or three times a day, in a glafs of wine and water, or vale¬ rian tea.
