Nineteen deaths occurred ainoii persons belon”:in'<- t<> the district, and 22 among persons from other districts Mr. Roach, the Mastei-, informs me that the average number of inmates dui-ing the j)ast year was 247, and tliat no death occurred amongst vagrants admitted to the wards. The death rate per- cent, last year would apjrroxi- mately be 16'6, estimated on the avei-age number of inmates, as against 17'7 for the preceding year. The number of deaths recoi-ded as not certified is 12, of which 7 wei’e under 5 years, against 14 recorded for the preceding year. They occnri-ed as follows : (1) Cannock Ward.—Five deaths occiuTcd in this ward, one being from premature birth, one from natural causes, one from convxilsions, one from diairhoea, and one fi'om bronchitis. (2) Hednesford AVard.—One death fi-om cardiac syncope, and one from a])oplcxy, occurred in this ward. (8) Chadsmoor Ward.— Five deaths occurred in this ward, two being from convulsions, one from premature- birth, one from cardiac syncope, and one from natural causes. The number of cases notified last year under this Notification of Act was 282, against 547 for the preceding year. Of these Disensos Act. cases 21G were scarlatina, as against 487 for tlie preceding year, and con.stitutc a rate of about 76 ])er cent, upon the sum total of disease notified. . . . Subjoined are the particulars of the notifiable diseases in their order. None. (1) Cannock Ward.-—Twenty-six cases occurred in the Cannock jun-fion of this ward in 17 houses, 51 in 28 houses in the llridgtown portion, and 15 in 10 houses in the outlying portions, the total for this ward being 92 cases in 50 houses, . • (2) Fightcen cases occuxred in 17 houses in that portion of the wai-d Avhich includes Green Heath, Pye Green, Mount Street, Railway Road, and Bradbury Lalie. Twenty-four cases occurred in 16 houses in that poi-tioU which includes Hednesford Town, Church Hill, and Little- worth ; the total for this ward being 42 cases in 83 houses. Smallpox.
