![Just recently a report on tulierculosis has boon issued by the Council of the British Medical Association, and in this report are ^iven the subjoined Hures witli }'egard to the annual mortality from tuberculosis per million living during the decennium 1881-1890, viz. ; England and Wales Ireland Scotland United Kingdom 4499 ... 84-t 3336 ... list 4368 ... 15a) 4:151 ... 962 -15 rears. all at^ps. 827 2420 1491 2665 1.506 274.1 995 2488 0-5 years. 5-10 years. In this report are also recommendations \vhic!i may thus be summarised, viz.: (1) Dwellings.—Every house newly eiected should be on a dry site and diy foundation, with suflicient space around to allow of free access of air and sunl ight. (2) Meat.—Properly qualified men should be ap- pointed as meat inspectors— (rt) By every county boi’ough and borough ; (d) By all Urban District Councils ; (r) By County Councils for rural disti-icts, and by arrangement for small ui-b.ni districts. (3) Parliamentary powers should be obtained as follows— A.—Slaughter-Houses. (1) Facilities for providing public slaughter- houses ; (2) To prohibit slaughter for gain except in a public slaughter-hou.se after ])rovision of such public slaughter-houses ; (3) Elsewhei’e all licenses to be renewable an- nually, and revocable easily; (4) Compulsoi-y examination of every cai-go of imported meat. The chargi* to be bonie by importer; B.—Milk.
