![SHAFI‘ITES. 278. B 366. Size 12 in. by 9 in.; foll. 158. Thirteen lines in a page. A system of Shifi‘ite Law, being, according to the inscription, ysl by Abu’l-Kasim ‘Abd al-karim b. Muhammad Rirr‘t Kazwini (d. a.n. 623), on which compare H. Kh. y. 419, and Cat. Bodl. i. 78. There is no special preface in this MS. In the colophon, the work is ascribed to Mawawi “ ads) Céad (oi enall eet etl Lela pled! quill Cit (sic) ows pl 23S Ly). This is, however, evidently incorrect. That it is really ya, is proved by its near relation to Nawawi’s .. ya \b)| cles which is an abridged edition of that work. The following books (W»l:S) occur in this MS.: Syleally By; pla! Numerous notes. Defects after foll. 88 and 96. The margin injured in the earlier portion. Signature of Saiyid ‘Abd al-rahman b. ‘Alawi al-‘Aidariis Husaini at the end and on the title-page. The second part of a Commentary on Vawawi’s abstract of Shafiite Law, .jJlb!! lee, by Kamal al-din Mu- hammad b. Misa Damiri (d. a.m. 808), who completed it a.w. 786, and entitled it cyl esl. Cf. H. Kh. vi. 208; Cat. Bodl. i. 77, andii. 573; and also Wiisten- feld, das Leben und die Schriften des al-Nawawi, p. 50. This part extends from Pel wLS to the end. The text of the Minhdj is introduced by ,J\. Plainly written ; finished in Rajab, 895 (,,,.3 ‘gual! wr? >! uy —~e)]| als oe ot d>)| x)» by Zain al-din b. | > a b. Hajji Mahmid Khunji.' The last leaves are injured. Signatures of several owners on the title-page, the earliest that of Sadr al-sharf‘ah, “a descendant (Lonme)) of Abu ‘Abdallah, the author of usyls!| ”” (i.e. of Najm al-din ‘Abd al-ghaffar Kazwint, d. a.H. 665).? The first half of a large Commentary (< gyre) on the same work, styled geal &icx*, The author does not give his name, but he says in his preface that he began his work on 12th Muharram, 958. Ina more modern inscription, which proves to be correct, he is called Anmap 3B. Hasan, t.e. Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Hajar Haithami Makki (d. a.#.973), This commentary was printed at Cairo, 4.H. 1282, in four vols. Beginning : de bel IS dee oil all Rye le lguey in two volumes, the first of which concludes with él cS, and is dated a.z. 1012 Gat dal ile Al ae pte wilds). The second begins (fol. 2550.) with ee! cos, and concludes (fol. 454r.) with WLS esl. On the last page begins the third volume with (23) ,a} ks. Clearly written, the text of the Minhdj in red. Numerous notes in the earlier portion. Foll. 50-65 have been supplied by a different hand. The above-mentioned inscription is in the hand of the owner, ‘Abd al-rahman b. Saiyid ‘Alawi b.
