Ocular leprosy: diagnosis and investigation

Examination of the eye: sensory testing In this picture, a health worker is testing a patient for corneal sensation. This may be diminished or absent in leprosy due to involvement of the trigeminal (fifth cranial) nerve. To test for sensory loss the centre of the cornea is lightly touched with a fine piece of cotton wool. It is noted whether or not the patient can feel this and if there is a blink response.
