![Jury returned a verdict of accidental deaths and your Committee having made further and special enquiry intc the circumstances, by desire of the Commissioners ir Lunacy, were satisfied that the verdict was strictly ii accordance with the facts of the case. Removal of It should be observed that the number of inmates has chargeable to been kept down to the present level by the removal tc Boroughs of 1 . Portsmouth and 0tqer Asylums of forty Patients, half of whom were charge-: Southampton J J able to the Borough of Portsmouth, and half to the Borough of Southampton. These removals have been effected ii pursuance of the intention expressed by your Committee ii their last annual Report. There is now no contract subsisting between your Conn mittee and the Municipal Authorities of these two Boroughs: though there are still about one hundred of their Patient:, retained in the Asylum liable to be removed from time t( time as additional space may be required for Patient:: chargeable to Unions within the County. Such further removal, however, will not be insisted on till circumstance^ render it unavoidable.
