To this mixture Sulphate of Magnesia may sometimes be usefully added. Use.—This is the ordinary tonic prescribed at hospital for phthisis. It is varied by addition of Strychnia or Arsenic; and sometimes the Compound Syrup of the Hypophosphites is substituted. PILULi^—PILLS. 95. Pilula Expectorans. R Pilulae Scillae Compositse . . . . . gr. 4. Pulveris Doveri . . . . . . gr. 2. Pilulae Rhei Compositse . . . . . gr. 3. M.; ft. pil. ij.—Two pills to be given night and morning, and, if neces- sary, one or two also at intervals in the day.
