    all Perfons, whofhall prefent themfelves, or their Medicines, to their Scrutiny and Examination. From hence it manifeftly follows, That the College of Phy- ficians is very far from being a Monopoly, fmce it cannot re¬ ject any of the King s Subje&s who are duly qualified for the Exercife of all, or any Part of Phyfick ; and therefore, all Preten¬ ders to Secret Medicines, or to the Practice of Phyfick, without Licence firft had from the College, are juftly profecuted and punilhed as Publick Cheats and Impoftors (confcious to them¬ felves of Fraud in their Medicines, and Inefficiency in their pretended Skill in Phyfick) according to the juft and wholfome Laws in that Cafe provided ; For which purpofe, and for the Incouragement of Legal and Learned Prafticers in Phyfick, the College of Phyficians is inverted with feveral Powers and Privileges, partly by the exprefs Laws of the Land, and feve¬ ral Royal Charters ; and partly by fuch Statutes and Orders of the College, as have been made in Purfuance thereof. An Ac¬ count of fome of which are here Printed, for the more Publick Information of all the King’s Subjects, fo that none may here¬ after pretend Ignorance in thefe Matters. 1. The Cenfors of the College are intruded with the Go¬ vernment, Scrutiny, Correction and Supervifion of all Perfons pradtifing Phyfick within the City of London, and Seven Miles Compafs,together with all their Medicines,Bills and Prefcriptions whatsoever ; fo as that they may punilh Offenders by Fines, Amerciaments, Imprifonments, and other reafonable Methods. 2.
