I o. cap. 1 o./>. 491.; and al fo by Pro- clus the philofopher, in his commentary upon the Timaeus of Plato, p. 30.; who informs us, at the fame time, that Callifthenes and Phanodemus averred the contrary of this, viz. That the Saites were a colony of the Athenians; and he mentions Atticus, a Platonic philofopher of later times, who fays, that Theopompus, through envy, in¬ verted the {lory. And he adds, that in At- ticus’s time there came certain perfons from Sais to Athens to renew their relation and connexion with the Athenians f. From all thefe accounts, one thing ap¬ pears to be evident, that there was a con¬ nexion betwixt the Saites and Athenians, and that either the Saites were a colony of the Athenians, or the Athenians of the Saites.
