Miles of King ft on, to whom he had been call’d ■fome Months before j whom he found as Dead by a Fall from on high j and whom Dr. Packe afterwards vifited as Phyfician, and Recover'd, after he had lain eight or nine Days Comatole* This Deponent fays farther that with the Leave of Dr. Packe, he fe arch'd Mr. WorgeFs Head, but found nei¬ ther Wound nor Contufion, nor fo much as the Leaft Scratch upbn the Scalp , Wherefore being fatished in his own Judgment that there could be no Realon for Trepanning this Man, He this Deponent began to ask the People in the Room leveral Queflions, particularly where they inten¬ ded to let the Trepan bn, to which an elderly Woman (who as this Depo¬ nent has been fince Inform’d is Mrs. Irons*, Dr. Cray's Mother in-Law) made Immediate anfwer in a Pettilh way, that there would be a Surgeon there prc- fently to anlwer me. This Deponent lays farther that Dr. Packe return’d with him to the Lyon, where he fat fome Hours more in the Company abovelaid, and in this De- .ponenfs Hearing, and in the Hearing of Mr. Hatcher afore laid, did declare that he was utterly againft Trepanning the Poor man,it being Barbarous to perform luch an Ulelefs Operation upon him ^ and that He the laid Dr. Packe was Refolv’d to Stay till Dr. Gray came, either to Prevent the Operation, Or if he could not, to lee it Done in Vindication of his own Judgment and deputation, and that he the laid Dr. Packe was well In~ form'd that Dr. Gray and the Surgeons had appointed to do it that Day. Dr. Packe after lome time leem’d unealy, that Dr. Gray lliould make him wdit lb many Hours in Vain, and at laft concluding that he would not come^ took Horle and went from Bridge about feven o’clock in the Evening. This Deponent farther maketh Oath, that he this Deponent does vety well Remember, that Mrs. Worger the Wife of the late Robert Worger, did at the Time and Place abovelaid in Hr Hearing declare, that the Pa¬ tient her Husband “ HAD BEEN FREQUENTLY TROUBLED WITH GIDDINESS AND SWIMMING IN THE HEAD, ” and to the bell of his Remembrance, that Ihe faid he was not well the Morning he came out to the Horle-Race *, which was one of this Deponent’s Realbns, why he exprefs’d himlelf lo much againll the Trepan at that Time in all their Hearings : In which Opinion, he this Deponent declares, that Mrs. Worger, Wife of the Patient, Sarah Knott the Nurle, and a Brother of Mr. Worger then prefent, did all fully agree, and faid they were not willing that that Operation fhould be done. This Deponent further maketh Oath, that he was not by or near Mr. Worger at the Time of his Fall, fo can give no account of the manner of it from
