    SHELTERED ACCOMMODATION PEARCE HOUSE This accommodation became avaioable in 1970. Further patients were discharged from Meanwood Park Hospital and admitted when vacancies occurred. The first patient suffering from recurring mental illness was placed there as she was homeless, and was able to settle down, supported by the mental welfare officer who knew her. LODGINGS The lodging house for men, in Chapeltown, continued to function, one of the senior mental welfare officers visited to maintain informal supervision of the mentally handicapped residents.
