![RODENT CONTROL One Rodent Operator is employed by the Council on Rats and Mice Destruction. During the year 73 complaints of rats or mice were received. 2811 visits, under the Rats and Mice (Destruction) Act, 1919, were made, and 118 infesta- i tions were treated by the Rodent Operator. Systematic inspections have been made throughout the district and the refuse tips at Durkins Road and Eden Vale have been inspected regularly and ; treated when necessary. i Several infestations on farms were reported to the County Agricultural ] Executive Committee for their attention, as in the majority of cases the rats from these farms were spreading to neighbouring properties. No. 2 Sewer Maintenance Treatment was completed on 6th March and the results obtained were satisfactory, “takes” being recorded in only 3 manholes. ; A nominal charge was made to householders for the service ; business; premises however were required to pay the actual cost of the work carried out, j in accordance with the agreement made between the Council and the Ministry { of Agriculture and Fisheries. ' ERADICATION OF BED BUGS, ETC. Three dwelling houses were disinfested of bed bugs by the use of D.D.T. Insecticide and one house similarly treated for the eradication of fleas. None of| these houses are Council owned. PUBLIC CLEANSING Public Cleansing is carried out by the Engineer and Surveyor’s Department j House refuse is collected every 7 days and is disposed of by means of tipping Two sites for refuse disposal are used : the Durkins Road tip from October t^ March and Eden Vale tip for the warmer months of the year.
