Description
Top, portrait paintings of four kings: Philippe de Valois (Philip VI), Charles the Fair (Charles IV), Philip the Tall (Philip V), Louis le Hutin (Louis X). Below, two portrait paintings, of Cardinal Alderano Cybo and Pope Innocent XI, and between them a large still-life painting. At floor level, three closed cabinets on stands, holding animals, medallions and a clock, and with two small paintings above them: left, a painting of two walruses, right, a painting of the Château de St-Germain by M.r le Dauphin
Symmetrical composition in itself, also forming a symmetrical pair with pl. 6 (Wellcome Collection no. 35707i): in the present print, light falls from the right, there is a portrait of a cardinal on the left and a pope on the right, whereas in pl. 6 the light falls from the left, there is a portrait of a pope on the right and a cardinal on the left
