In this the nuclei appear to have become confluent, and spread out into a disk, surrounded by the abrupted margins of the thallodal verruca, in which they were originally imbedded. The asci are very large, and the sporidia more regularly developed, being generally 8 in number, but of the same form, though smaller in size, as in P. communis and its varieties; the paraphyses are also similar. 4.
