Physicall and chyrurgicall receipts. Cookery and preserves.
The upper and lower covers are lettered 'Physick' and 'Cookery' respectively.
Signature of 'Elizabeth Jacob' twice on the fourth leaf, and 'Eliz. Jacob 1654' on the fifth leaf. Though the beginnings of both sections are written by Elizabeth Jacob, there are many additions by other and later hands, especially by the writer of a neat upright script, which can perhaps be dated c. 1685.

1 volume 12 ll. (last 4 bl.). + 147 pp. + 87 bl. ll. + 351 [251] pp. + 5 bl. ll. + 12 ll. (last 2 bl.). 4to. 191/2 × 15 cm. Original panelled calf-gilt binding, damaged: with two brass clasps. Pp. 337-340 are missing. In the Cookery section pp. 344-351 are wrongly numbered 244-251.
