No text description is available for this image![1521 No. 1826. A quarto volume, bound in vellum, consisting of 47 leaves of paper ruled with red lines; of which the first 3 and last 16 are vacant. This MS. is fairly written in secretary-hand, and bears this half-title, “« Statuta Collegij Medicorum Londini,” on f. 42. “Sratuta Cortecis Mepicorum Londini, per clariss. virum 'T’Homam Lryacrum et Collegium predictum, regia authoritate incepta atque edita anno Domini 1520. et per JoanNeM Calum ’Presidentem, in ordinem redacta, aucta et abso- luta, eadem authoritate et Collegio, anno Domini 1555. Cui preemissus est alphabeticus “ Index eorum que continentur in hoc libro.” ff. 5—8; 9?, (pp- 41) 10—3o. Juramentum cuique Collegii college prestitum. f, 30b—1. This oath is added by an other old hand, the same which has corrected numerous passages of these Statutes. Some of the ana- lytical notes in the margins of this MS. seem to be in the hand- writing of the celebrated Dr. Richard Forster, President of the College ; whose medical collectanea are in No. 209, ii. No. 1827. A small quarto MS., consisting of 199 leaves of vel- lum, written in the X Vth century, and rubrished throughout : ff. 60-—64 are vacant. It was formerly marked “ B. 10.” t. “Incipit Anathomia Henrict pe Amonpat, Primum capitulum est de anatomia membrorum consimihium tam simplicium quam composito- rum.” f.1—59. The first words, after the titles of the twelve chapters, are— Membrum est pars corporis solidi. Tt ends thus—“ e¢ est simile laude {rectius lambda] litere Grece et figure sequenti A [i. e. 7] in algarismo etc. Explicit anathomia magistri Henrici de Amon- dala etc.” This author is called by Fabricius (Bibl. Lat. Med. Avi, II. 309, ed. 4to.) Henricus de Amondavila, or Amandi villa, and said to have been the physician of Philip IV. King of France, about 1306. 1522 2. Magistri Perri pe Tavsicuamo Bononiensis, in hbrum nonum Almansoris commentarius, seu liber G Receptarum’ vel Medicamentorum contra varios morbos: ine. Jn descripcione receptarum convenrencium congrue nono Almansoris talis ordo servetur. Primo in vf dicentur digestiva humorum tam simplicia quam composita.” f. 65 —198. In fine—“ Emplastrum mitigativum cujuscunque doloris [etc.]—et applicetur membro dolenti. Expliciunt Recepte reve- rendissimi et famosissimi arcium et medicine doctoris, domini ma- gistri Petri de Tausiguamo de Bononia, compilate Bononie super nono Almasoris, et illustris principis domini, domini Galea Comitis Vertutum, domini Mediolan. ete. et imperialis vicarij bene merito phisici principalis. Deo gratias. Amen.” At the foot of f. 173, are the following verses, written with rubric, and glossed in ink; probably by the hand of Dr. Jonn SoMERSET, physician to King Henry VI. Spongia linx raphanus et scorpio Juda vel hireus Ales caudatus lepus et pullus sociatus Ut lapidem vacuent : proprietate valent. “Tec ego Somers’.” On the last leaf is an extract from “ Bernardus super Cantic. Pauperes sine defectw? (etc.) subscribed “ Hec de ypocritis.” (f. 199%.) Almost half of the width of this leaf has been torn off. No. 1828. A small octavo volume, bound in black calf, contain- ing 137 pages (the last of which is on the cover) closely and distinctly written in a large upright hand. Religious reflections and maxims, select texts of scripture, and various observations tending to practical piety, written at sundry times by THo- mAs Witson, Bishop of Sodor and Man :* or, ** Private Thoughts of Bishop Wilson, presented to the Ashmolean Library by Lieut. Brett, R.N. 1829.” pp. 1—85, 88, Log, 110, 123—5, 128 —129, 131, 134—7. * From 1697 to 1755. The title, or note, given above, is in- scribed within the cover.
