Feb. 22nd F rench ketch Myosotis On inspection, the Captain reported that a Seaman was suffering from a cold. The Captain sent him to the Infirmary where he was detained. At the end of four days he was found to be suffering from Typhoid Fever, and removed to Allt-yr-yn Hospital. Fiesh Water Casks emptied and cleaned. Forecastle disinfected. March 2nd British You glial schooner Harvest Queen Sailor suffering from Erysipelas. Re- covered and went to sea on the same Vessel. April 12 th British River Plate s/s Rodney Captain reported that he had le t one Fireman in Hospital, River Plate, suffering from Typhoid Fever. No further cases. April 16th British Seville via Ham- burg and Liver- ] ool s/s Glen park Captain reported that T.H., aged 60, Fireman, was taken ill on April 5th, at sea. Vessel arrived Liverpool April 10th, he was removed to Hos- pital, April 11th, suffering from Small Pox. 10 of the crew re- May 10 th British ISassurm via I!oi terdam s/s Ho wick Hall May 10th British L' lidon via Glas- gow and Bristol s/s Turquoise May 31st June 7th British Brj tish Cork schooner Twilight River Plate via : s/s Hambleton Valencia vaccinated, vessel fumigated, and disinfected, and cleansed. No fur- ther cases. Captain reported sickness during voy- age, death from Syphilis, Jan. 20th, at Port Said, and at Rotterdam 3 of the Lascars were ill ; 1 died at sea May 9th from Heart Failure and Dropsy (probably Beri-Beri). On arrival at Newport, May 10th two Coal Trimmers (Lascars), were suffering from Beri-Beri. They were removed to Mendalgiet Hos- pital, May 11th. Forecastle, berths, etc., were fumigated, sprayed, and cleansed. On arrival, Captain reported that he had left 1 Seaman in Hospital at Bristol, suffering from 'typhoid Fever. Vessel fumigated, bed desti oyed, fresh water tanks cleansed also forecastle and berths disinfected and cleansed. No further cases. Captain reported that he had left the Mate in Hospital at Cork, suffering from Fever. According to the official log, 1 Fireman was laid up for 14 days with Diar- rhoea, and several others were laid up for a few days during voyage from Rosario to Valencia. 1 was re- moved to Hospital at Valencia, and on arrival at Newport, the Carpenter was found to be suffering from Typhoid Fever. He had been ill 7 days in his bunk, but there was no entry in the Log Book in reference to the matter.
