Take Roots of Sorrel,/harp pointed docke and Elicampane, Polypody of the Oak, Seeds of Carthamiu, RMns fiosted of each half an ounce. Endive, Cichory, PUntune, Buclofs, Bor- rage. Hops, Fumitory, Dodder; Ceterach, Chamsedrys or ground Oak, Ground pine, of each one handful; Violet flowers t wo pugils'. Make a DecoEHon to fixteen ounces. In the (trained liquor Jleep all night Epnhymum, half an ounce. Senna five drams; Agaricktno ounces ■ Gin- gcr*) tm drams. In the morning let them boyl a little and make an exprefsion of the Liquor, and therein dijfolve, of the clarified juyces of Fumitory and Plantane, of each three drams white Sugar one pound and an half Make of all a Syrup perfetlly boyled. Let him tale 'tuo ounces or two and a half at a time, in whey, every fifth or fxth day. Take Co?}ferve of' Bug/ofs and Barrage flowers, of each two drams ; [havings of Ivory and Harts-Horn, of each a] cruple, Old Mithridate, tm drams. Mix them for two dofes after his forging, three hours before meat. After the third or fourth purging, open the inner vein of bis left Arm, and Cake away ten ounces of blood. Afterwards, if poifibJe by any means, open his Hemorrhoid veins : firft with emollient and altering fomentations, afterwards with fuppofitories of Hiera Ample with juyce of Mercury or with Gall: or if they be confpicuous outwardly andfwollen, apply Lee- che$ to them. That by this means the black and Melancholy blood may flow out. When therefore his oody fhall be diligently prepared and evacuated, the ufe of bathing will be exceeding profitable in fweet potable water, continued many days together, in the morning faffing. But fo that the Baths be not hot to caufe fweat, but only lukewarm, to moiften his Body. . • He muff keep a cooling and moiffening Diet; barley cream will be very good for him in a morning, efpecially when there is no need of Medicaments7. Broths alio made of Chicken, Veal, or Mutton, with Buglofs, Borrage, Sorrel, Lettuce and Plantane. If he leave off Wine in the Summer, it will be exceeding wholefome for him to drink jnftead thereof Barley water,- or any other drink prepared for him ; If any parts in the Skin appear black, or black and blew, void offenfe,fix Cupping*-Glaffes thereupon and make Scanification, and that a good depth.
