![was in a great measure dependent on his eldest brother, Albert, wlio seems to have always treated him with great liberality and kindness. In conse- quence of the assistance derived from this quarter, he was enabled to repair to Paris, and commence a regular course of study in Latin, Greek, and philo- sophy. He was gifted with great powers of memory, as well as much penetration and energy; his pro- gress was therefore more than usually rajiid, so much so, that in a short time he was sufhciently qualified to return to IMontjx'llier and take a medi- cal degree.
