    CARTERS. ee ee ee The “Esego” Rear Steering Type ® We have already pointed out that for general purposes we recommend our Front Steering “ Esego,” but in many cases it is essential that the front of the machine should be open in order to facilitate entry, and for these cases the Rear Steering ‘‘ Esego”’ will be found to be ideal. NOTE.—We have recently re-designed our ‘‘ Esego”’ Tricycles and the new models are a great advance on those which have been popular for so many years. The new frame is stronger, the new gear- box and axle are in every way more efficient than the old, and the brakes now fitted are very much more powerful. DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION The “ Esego”’ is propelled by a simple backward and forward movement of the levers. In the standard pattern the levers have an alternate action—that is to say, when one lever is forward, the other is back, but we can, if desired, provide a simultaneous action which gives a movement as in rowing. The machine is built of the highest quality weldless steel cycle tube and all lugs are carefully pinned and brazed. The wheels are built with extra strong rims and 14-gauge spokes, and they dre fitted with 1? in. pneumatic tyres with heavy non-skid treads. The power is transmitted to a three-speed gear-box, which forms an integral part of the front axle, and which incorporates a differential gear, thus greatly increasing the stability of the machine on corners and lessening the effort required for propulsion,
