![VENEREAL DISEASES The Authority has'an agreement with the City of Birmingham Corporation for the treatment of West Bromwich cases at the Clinic in Birmingham. A few cases are also treated at the Guest Hospital, Dudley. Local cases treated during the year were as follows : — Birmingham. Dudley. Total. Syphilis 15 1 16 Soft Chancre . — — — Gonorrhoea 18 3 21 Conditions other than Venereal 69 6 75 Total new cases 102 10 112 Total Attendances—outpatients . 2,121 138 2,259 Regulation 33B. The following notifications were received during the year under Defence (General] Regulation 33B. M. F. Total No. of persons in respect of whom Form I was received — 4 4 Primary notification . — 3 3 Secondary notification . — 11 Informal enquiries were made in respect of all notifications : cases were followed up unofficially under the Maternity and Child Welfare Services. Experience of the application of Regulation 33B in this town has not been very vast, but it does seem that something additional might be considered to control chronic offenders. Periodic clearing up of these cases under forced direction to attend for treatment would not appear to be sufficient when the case becomes re-infected almost immediately, and can carry on until the two necessary notifications are received afresh. It may be a matter of months before the Authorities have received officially the further two separate notifications and in the meantime the infection is spreading far and wide and this may be known to the Authority.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30259885_0021.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
